EdSource is a California-based independent organization that works to clarify complex education issues and promote thoughtful education policy decisions. It was originally established in 1977 by the California PTA, the League of Women Voters of California, and the American Association of University Women as the California Coalition for Fair School Finance.

Every year EdSource holds at least one forum that brings key figures in California education finance, policy, and research to speak to and answer questions from the public. In the years when EdSource hosts a forum in Northern California, the WCCUSD Community Budget Advisory Committee usually organizes a car pool to the event.

This year the forum was in Santa Clara on March 19th. So, we went down to hear about the budget situation from the LAO, a new middle grades study, news about the community college system, and a discussion between 2 of the the 3 front-runners for State Superintendent of Public Instruction. In our meeting on Thursday we’ll discuss what we found out.
